Konnessjonijiet aħjar għal min juża s-servizzi tal-Gozo Channel u tat-trasport pubbliku (MT)

Il-Ministru għat-Trasport, l-Infrastruttura u l-Proġetti Kapitali Ian Borg u l-Ministru għal Għawdex Clint Camilleri nedew rotta ġdida tat-trasport pubbliku bl-isem X300, li se tkun qed tgħaqqad it-Terminal fiċ-Ċirkewwa mal-Università u l-Isptar Mater Dei, G.F. Abela Junior College u l-Belt Valletta.

Il-Ministru Ian Borg qal, “L-impenn tal-gvern tagħna jibqa’ dejjem titjib tanġibbli fil-kwalità tal-ħajja tan-nies. Pass pass, dejjem qed naraw li ntejbu l-konnessjonijiet u s-servizzi tat-trasport għal dawk li ta’ kuljum jaqsmu bejn il-gżejjer. Dan is-servizz se jkun qiegħed iwassal għal mobilità aktar aċċessibbli, b’mod speċjali għall-istudenti Għawdxin li jridu jmorru lejn l-Università u l-Junior College u l-ħaddiema Għawdxin li issa jistgħu imorru Mater Dei jew il-Belt Valletta u jirkbu karozza tal-linja għall-post tax-xogħol minn dawn it-termini. Qed nitkellmu dwar aktar minn 1,100 student u kważi 4,000 ħaddiem. Se nkomplu ninvestu f’aktar servizzi bil-baħar, filwaqt li nħejju l-pjanijiet għal konnessjoni permanenti. Sadanittant, qed nagħmlu aktar investiment biex nużaw l-infrastruttura eżistenti b’mod aktar effiċjenti.”

Il-Ministru għal Għawdex Clint Camilleri qal li dan hu pass importanti sabiex jonqos id-dewmien tal-Għawdxin biex jaslu fil-post tax-xogħol jew fl-istituzzjoni edukattiva. Kompla jgħid li, “Permezz tal-X300, se nsolvu parti mill-problema tal-konnettività tal-Għawdxin.” Huwa sostna li flimkien mal-Ministru Ian Borg se jkomplu jaħdmu sabiex itejbu l-konnettività, kemm permezz ta’ fast ferries, kif ukoll bil-proġett tal-mina bejn Malta u Għawdex.

L-iskeda għal din ir-rotta ġdida se tkun sinkronizzata mal-iskeda tal-vapur tal-Gozo Channel, u se topera biss fil-waqfiet taċ-Ċirkewwa, Skate Park (għall-Isptar Mater Dei u l-Università), Kulleġġ (għall-istudenti tal-Junior College) u t-Terminus tal-Belt Valletta, sabiex l-utenti jaslu minn tarf għal ieħor tar-rotta f’madwar 60 minuta. Ir-rotta se tibda topera mit-Tnejn sal-Ġimgħa mis-6.00am sa s-6.45pm minn Ottubru 2020, b’erba’ vetturi dedikati ta’ 12-il metru li ddaħħlu fis-servizz fl-2020, u li jinkludu Wi-Fi b’xejn u USB Charging Ports.

Better connections for users of the Gozo Channel and public transport services (EN)

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg and Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri launched a new public transport route named X300, which will connect the Ċirkewwa Terminal with the University and Mater Dei Hospital, G.F. Abela Junior College and Valletta.

Minister Ian Borg said, “Our government’s commitment always remains to tangible improvement in the quality of life of people. Step by step, we are constantly improving connections and transport services for those who cross between the islands daily. This service will lead to more accessible mobility, especially for Gozitan students headed towards University and Junior College and Gozitan workers who can now go to Mater Dei or Valletta and catch a bus to their place of work from these terminals. We are speaking about more than 1,100 students and almost 4,000 workers. We will continue investing in more services by sea while preparing plans for a permanent link. In the meantime, we are investing more to use existing infrastructure more efficiently.”

Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri said that this is an important step to reduce delays for Gozitans getting to their place of work or educational institution. He added that, “through the X300, we will solve part of the connectivity problem for Gozitans.” He stressed that together with Minister Ian Borg, they will continue working to improve connectivity, both through fast ferries, as well as through the Malta-Gozo Tunnel project.

The schedule for this new route will be synchronised with the Gozo Channel ferry schedule, and will operate only at the Ċirkewwa, Skate Park (Mater Dei Hospital and University), Kulleġġ (Junior College students) and Valletta Terminus stops, so users can travel from one end of the route to the other in around 60 minutes. The route will start operating from Monday to Friday from 6.00 am to 6.45pm from October 2020, with four dedicated 12-metre vehicles introduced to the service in 2020, which include free Wi-Fi and USB Charging Ports.
