The main objective of Santa Marta Day Centre is to increase the service users’ potential and enhance the individual’s quality of life through activity and learning.
The aim of Santa Marta Day Centre is to provide people with physical, mental and/or learning disabilities with a safe, friendly and relaxing environment, which is conducive to their personal and social development.
Service users can make friends and enjoy themselves without the risk of being discriminated.
Services
Santa Marta Day Centre also offers several services to its adult trainees.
Service users are taken to the Gozo General Hospital on a regular basis to make use of the services provided as necessary. Hospital based professionals such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech language pathologists also provide their services at Santa Marta Day Centre.
Adult Educators from the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College Gozo Visual and Performing Arts School visit Santa Marta Day Centre on a regular basis in winter to offer sessions in pottery and papier mache.
Trainees at Santa Marta Day Centre also participate in animal and agriculture therapy which is provided very often all year round; they thoroughly enjoy being in the fresh air and in contact with a number of different animals in their natural environment.
Service users are accompanied to swimming sessions at the pool at ARKA or go to one of the local beaches in summer.
Facilities
Santa Marta Day Centre also offers the facility of a one-stop shop for persons with disability in Gozo; this office is manned by the Gozitan Federation for Persons with Disability in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo. This office provides a customer care service regarding any queries or issues pertaining to the disability sector. It also aims to inform and to raise awareness amongst the population regarding disability issues, with a special emphasis on school children and youngsters.
Post-secondary and tertiary education students reading for courses related to persons with disability carry out their practical placements at the Santa Marta Centre.

Adults with a disability may be referred to Santa Marta Day Centre by their parent/s, legal guardian or any other agency by filling in the

16th June to 30th September:
Monday to Friday from 7.00am to 1.00pm
